Gong Tirta organizes their second gamelanfusion jamsession on Saturday 14th of December 2024.

With the success of the first impromptu jamsession June 2nd 2024, our band acquired a taste for more. Danne Lunenburg (electronic music) will be guesting again. Composer Luiz Henrique Yudo (allsorts) will be present too. They will be accompanied by members of Gong Tirta on a plethora of instruments from East and West.

ALDM Indorock event 10th of November 2024
Sunday 10th of November in the Bovenkruier at Zaandam. Association Almost Lost Dutch Music launched for the second time this year a live Indorock event.
Three workshop groups (active in Utrecht, Zaandam and Amsterdam) presented their acquired prowess to an enthousiastic audience. Indorock infused renditions of well known keroncong songs like Bengawan Solo and Terang Bulan were enjoyed by everyone present. Hujan Soré, Sepanjang Jalan Kenangan and Ayun-Ayun were rocked-up. Even a few songs from the likes of the Beatles had their Eurasian moment. And of course true Indorock classics like Al Capone and State Fair were played with abandon.
The event was topped off with a dynamic set by the Streetrollers. Special guest was fenomenal young guitarist Jay Jay. Also Ron Backx, who was one of the main organizers of the event made a very cool impression with his golden Les Paul and warm, punchy tone. In a powerful, radiant, bluesy solo he made the crowd cheer.
Renadi played bass with the workshop band Mokum Makan from Amsterdam. This nine-piece band was led by workshop teacher and lead guitarist Bart Baudoin (last picture underneath).

Gong Tirta Talempong
This most recent addition to the Gong Tirta repertory did the kick-off at the diplomatic reception at the Wisma Duta (the house of the Indonesian embassador) in Wassenaar, Thursday 12th of September. They performed live talempong music for tari Piring and tari Pasembahan from West-Sumatra in collaboration with dancers of Paguyaban Budaya Indonesia. Also their joint composition ‘Suntiang Gadang’ was featured.
AMS 750
De kick-off of Amsterdam 750 years is held in the ZIggo Dome in Amsterdam on Sunday 27th of October 2024. During this event Renadi will contribute to the ‘historical window’ Slavernij (Slavery) for which he was commissioned by the ZO! Gospel Choir. Renadi will perform his composition ‘Remembrance’ on kecapi (West-Javanese zither). He will be accompanied by Fantison O’Bryan on Djembe. Poet Gershwin Bonivacia will perform spoken word and Rahmidah Bake will dance her creation to this theme. Together they introduce the audience to ‘Redemption song’ performed by the Zo! Gospel Choir. New releases on Bandcamp
Gong Tirta have released a new miniCD and it is now downloadable on Bandcamp: MADley ’24 is a 17+ minutes-long refresh of older themes composed by I Ketut Sudanegara, Jessica Polak, Jeroen Sep and Renadi between 1989 and 2021. This medley is included in their 2024 live concerts.
Bangkirai X released their second album on Bandcamp. It’s much more gamelan-heavy than their first album and probably one of the finest achievements in terms of blending gamelan and (prog)rockmusic to date. Also, a secret is revealed concerning the band. Just head to the Bandcamp site and learn the hard truth behind Bangkirai X.

19th of May 2024 – Music & Dance Collaboration
At the Pasar Desa event in De Broodfabriek in Rijswijk Renadi (violin, guitar, EWI, kendang, vocal) collaborated with musicians Yukari Uekawa (saxophone, suling), Michiel Niemandsverdriet (kendang, gender, bonang, kemanak), Rutger (soundscapes, bonang, kemanak, vocal) and dancer Yuta Kuroki from Japan. Their adventurous performance made a spectacular ending of the first edition of the Festival Islam Kepulauan, organized by The Voices of Archipelago.
Kalangkang resurrected
Duo Kalangkang will perform their unique kecapi-suling program 31st of August 2024 in the Hortus Amsterdam. Upcoming first is a performance in Hilden (Germany) on April 18th.
Onder de Schubben van de Oceaan live
11th of February 2024 in the Gamelanhuis Amsterdam NL premiered a new, almost sold out concert by Gong Tirta titled ‘Onder de Schubben van de Oceaan’. Mostly older work, but with fresh adaptations/arrangements which made these compositions stand out in a modern, up-to-date sound. The concert featured MADley ’24 which was also released on MiniCD. The 17+ minutes track ‘Madley ’24’ can be auditioned and downloaded on Bandcamp.
Cinemasia in De Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam
Renadi performed on the kecapi at the official opening of the Best of Modern Asian Cinema festival on 1st of February 2024.
